Bridging the gap: from methodological developments towards clinical implementation of imaging biomarkers in lung and breast cancer (2025)

Abstract

PART IIn chapter 2, the relationship between perfusion and hypoxia has been investigated with15O-H2O en 18F-FAZA, respectively. In chapter 3 the relationship between perfusion and proliferation with 15O-H2O and18F-FLT was investigated. PART IIIn chapter 4A and 4B, the biodistribution of 18F-FES has been described and it has beeninvestigated how this is affected by rintodestrant, a novel SERD. In chapter 5 the pharmacokinetic profile of the 18F-FES radiotracer was investigated inpatients with metastatic ER+ breast cancer. In chapter 6 it was investigated how the diagnostic accuracy is of 18F-FDG, the radiotracerthat is currently used for staging of ER+ disease. In chapter 7, it was investigated how 18F-FDG versus 18F-FES heterogeneity predicts response to therapy and/or allows to monitor treatment effect.
